How long does cervical mucus stretch at ovulation?
Q. Ive been trying to determine when I ovulate by checking my cervical mucus and one day my mucus stretched 1 inch. Is this when i ovulated? Does this only mean its approaching? Or is this a pretty definitive thing. Like can it stretch 1 inch and then i ovulate a week later?
Asked by teen in kansas - Thu May 28 00:34:43 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is no standard length that cervical mucus stretches, if you have mucus stretching one inch then you are fertile - that's not to say that you ovulated as you can get fertile quality cervical mucus several days either side of ovulation. If you want to know when you ovulate you would need to use a specific method to determine ovulation, either a method like fertility awareness method, or something like persona or ovulation tests.

What type of vaginal mucus is a sign of ovulating?
Q. I know your vaginal mucus differs at different times throughout your cycle, but what type of mucus indicates ovulation? (Texture, clear/white, etc.?) If you are trying to get pregnant, what are some good indicators that your body is very fertile and it is a good time to attempt to conceive?
Asked by Scarlett - Tue Dec 22 21:06:40 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. "Right around ovulation (high chance of pregnancy): At this stage, mucus resembles egg whites. It is the thinnest, clearest and most abundant at this point in the cycle. Finger testing will allow the mucus to stretch quite a ways (several centimeters) before it breaks (if it breaks at all). ) The amount of this thin mucus will steadily increase until you experience your mucus peak . This is the last day of this period where the chance of conception is high. It is closely tied to ovulation. During this phase, the sperm s survival rate is higher. It can survive in cervical mucus for up to 72 hours, a significantly longer time than during the rest of the cycle."

How to get mucus out of cats eyes?
Q. I just got a himalayan kitten and he has gotten some mucus stuck around his eyes. I know this is very common to the breed. I've been wiping them but some is crusty and hard to get off. Is there a product at petstores to help get it off? Any tips?
Asked by Sara - Sat Jun 7 19:02:31 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I use a great product called Eye Envy for my Persian and Exotic Shorthair. It cleans the eye area and keeps them from getting goopy. It also is great at removing an tear staining that is already there. It's a bit pricey but a bottle of it will last quite awhile. This is how bright white Percy's eye area looks now - You can find it at some groomer or order it online - link below. If I run out of it I use a little bit of my saline solution for my contact lenses to clean the eye area. That works pretty well but won't keep the eyes from getting goopy like Eye Envy does. I sound like a commercial lol I really should ask for commission from them as often as I recommend it - just really like the stuff!

A. my sisters friend lost hers and went into labor less than 48 hours later, but for some it can take weeks...it all depends. she may be starting labor soon, but that pressure also could be the baby turning into the birthing position, that sometimes can cause a lot of pressure!

Btw don't tell me to go to the doctor cause I already did and its just I had a mild case of ibs. But I just wanted to know how you tell the difference between mucus and pus. Thanks for all who answers.

A. Pus is whitish and maybe in a form of foamy clumps, where as mucus is more stringy and drawn out, but maybe the same color. Musus is also yellow to tan color, where pus is usually white to yellow. Good Luck! JM-RN

A. The mucus is normal in pregnant dogs. Some signs they're going in labor is panting, tiredness, etc. try giving her a treat, if she eats it eagerly and wants more, then she's probably not going into labor for atleast a couple more hours. After you get your pups, you should really consider spaying your dog if you're not planning on it already. There are already so many homeless animals. Plus there's so much info to know about breeding. It sounds like you may need more time to learn it. Good luck with your pups!

A. Garlic is very good for sinus problems and taking 6 high strength odourless 3,000 mg garlic oil capsules every day will help. Garlic is both an antibacterial agent and an antimicrobial agent and will also boost your immune system. Replacing mucus generating dairy products and red meat with soy milk and white meat also helps. Apple cider vinegar every day helps a bit as well.

They say it can be 24 hours after losing it, some say a few weeks. Everyone is different. Mention this to your doctor. Good luck, God bless.

Does cervical mucus mean you are ovulating for sure? Is there a case you see mucus but yet not ovulate?
Q. I have irregular periods (30 to 38 days). I see mucus after about 16 to 20 days. Does it mean I am ovulating for sure? Is there any scenario that a women has cervical mucus but yet not ovulate?? I am very concerned about this. Please help.
Asked by Aba16 - Fri May 1 13:36:51 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You can have cervical fluid but not ovulate during times of stress. But, you would again have eggwhite cervical fluid during the same cycle. What I would do is start taking your first morning basal body temperature in addition to checking your cervical fluid. Your temps will tell you that you have ovulated AFTER you ovulate, but you will be able to see if your cervical fluids and temperatures are cross-checking each other. You also want to make sure what you are seeing is eggwhite in consistency. Most women have creamy cervical fluid before the eggwhite stuff. If you're seeing mucus after 16-20 days, then it's probably fertile quality fluids. Good luck!

Q. I know you don't always feel it, but when you do what does it feel like? Also, is it always a large glob, or could it just be like mucus like discharge. I have a lot of discharge like that, but haven't experienced any globs. Did anyone not even realize it when the mucus plug came out? Thanks for your answers. Also, how long afterwards did labor start for you?

A. I started losing my mucus plug on early Sunday morning. I didn't know I was losing it until I wiped and saw a huge brownish glob of mucus on my tissue paper. After that it was less but I was still losing it. It took until Tuesday for it to all go away and now I have a lot of discharge. It's been a few days that I've lost my MP and have yet to go to labor.

Asked by pistolpete_63 - Tue May 26 11:41:03 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. It could be just sinus drainage. Clear or white mucus is normal...so you are ok. When the mucus is yellow, that is a sign of infection and green mucus means old infection. When your sinuses drain, they drip down your throat causing you to cough. Sometimes the cough will produce mucus and sometimes it will not. You are ok...probably just have a lot of sinus drainage.

How does the body break down mucus when people swallow it?
Q. if the stomach acid is unable to erode/breakdown the mucus lining in the stomach does tha mean that the stomach acid is also unable to break up the mucus/thick phlegm that people swallow or no? if it is very thick and/or if the person has problems with peristalsis could it get stuck in the esophagus? Thanks-what if people have low salivary enzymes eg; Sjogrens?

A. "if it is very thick and/or if the person has problems with peristalsis could it get stuck in the esophagus?" I am not a doctor, but I bet that if you keep your body hydrated, that should not be a problem. Your saliva provides the necessary lubrication for stuff to slide down your food pipe.
